Billericay 1 Maidstone 1

Maidstone came away with a point after battling out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Billericay Town.

Peter Nott's side had their chances to take all three points away from New Lodge, in a game that kept both goalkeepers busy.

The hosts took the lead after just 12 minutes when a Michael Shinn corner was met by Chris Wild's side-foot finish inside the area. James Pinnock then had the first real goalscoring opportunity for the Stones, but his right foot drive went just over the bar.

The goalmouth action continued after the break when Mick Barnes netted an equaliser on 50 minutes. Jay Saunders (pictured right) found Barnes inside the box, who cooly finished off the move from a tight angle. Danny Hockton had a great chance to put Maidstone ahead just after the hour, but former Margate goalkeeper Paul Nicholls denied him with a strong save.

Jamie Turner was also kept busy between the sticks in the last 15 minutes, tipping a shot around the post.

Finally, Hockton was again denied by Nicholls in the closing stages, who tipped his effort over the bar.

Tonbridge Angels boosted their survival hopes in the Ryman Premier Division with a 2-1 win away at fellow strugglers Carshalton Athletic.

Jeryhal Hughes opened the scoring for the visitors just before the break, after Carshalton had the better of the opening exchanges. Hughes got himself on the end of Sam Long's clever ball from the left-hand side to find the back of the net on 41 minutes from the edge of the area.

Tommy Warilow's side then went further ahead in the closing stages, when Paul Booth doubled their lead on 74 minutes. Some good build-up play in midfield found Booth, who finished off inside the area from 10 yards.

Carshalton did pull a goal back on 84 minutes through Charlie Ide, to make it a nervous end for Tonbridge.
