Police seize machine as nuisance bikers return to Mangravat, Maidstone

Nuisance motorbikers who have spoiled so many Bank Holiday weekends for residents were out in force again over the King’s Coronation – but so were the police.

Officers swooped on Sunday as riders tore around the Mangravat Playing Field in Maidstone and then out towards Tovil.

One teenager was caught as he tried to escape down Pheasant Lane. His off-road motorbike was seized and he was also found to have a quantity of cannabis in his pocket.

The under-18 offender has been referred to the youth offending team.

Ash Bates from Maidstone’s community policing team said: “We are determined to clamp down on these offenders.

“If you have nuisance motorbikes in your community, please call 101 or report it online via www.kent.police.uk

“Alternatively, report it to Crimestoppers UK via www.crimestoppers-uk.org and report it anonymously.

Residents near the playing field have often being disturbed by the noise of revving motorbikes circling the area sometimes for hours at a time, as well as expressing concern for the safety of children using the park in the presence of the under-age uninsured young riders.
