Changes to Nu Venture bus times ahead of new school term

Before children go back to school in September, their parents need to check their bus timetables.

Nu Venture is making a number of changes to services in Maidstone, Tonbridge and Malling, and in Medway that will come into effect before the start of the new school year.

In Maidstone, because of the continuing road closure in Leeds due to water mains replacement, there are revised morning times for the No13 serving Langley Heath, Otham, and Maidstone, while a temporary bus, No 13A, serves Hollingbourne, Eyhorne Street and Maidstone, with revised times starting on August 29.

Buses 22, 23, 23A, 25, 26, and 27 will see some minor timetable changes from the same date and school journeys re-routed in Maidstone because of the impending closure of Queens Road during the school term for further CityFibre works.

The No527 is a new service replacing the previous No28 from Marden to Maidstone at school times, and operating to and from Oakwood Park via Tonbridge Road.

In the Tonbridge and Malling area, the No 58, which is a Friday-only service, will additionally serve Platt from September 1.

Bus 77 has a new off-peak timetable from August 29 with buses extended from West Malling via Larkfield and Ditton to/from Maidstone Hospital, restoring a link lost in the February round of KCC bus cuts.

In Medway there will be changes as a result of new Medway Council bus contracts starting on August 29, with some routes switching between bus operators.

ASD’s routes 142, 156, 173 and 197 will now be run by Nu-Venture, while Nu-Venture’s 113, 185 and 638 services will be operated by ASD buses.

Nu-Venture’s 169 and 179 services will have new times from August 29 with extra buses at Walderslade Woods.

Sadly, residents at King George Road in Weeds Wood will lose their No179 service. It has been permanently diverted away from the area because residents’ badly parked cars have frequently blocked the safe passage of buses.
