Maidstone: Cricketer resuscitated after collapse on pitch

A man had to be resuscitated by paramedics after collapsing at a cricket ground during a game.

Two ambulances, two response cars and a police car were at the scene of the incident at the Mote Cricket Club in Maidstone last night.

The man was treated at the scene for more than 40 minutes after going into cardiac arrest before being taken to William Harvey Hospital.

A spokesman for the South East Central Ambulance Service confirmed they responded to calls at around 7pm.

They said: “Can confirm we were called to Mote Cricket Club on Willow Way at approximately 7pm yesterday to reports a man had collapsed.

“Ambulance crews attended the scene along with fire service co-responders. The man was resuscitated before being taken in a serious condition to William Harvey Hospital.

“We would like to thank all those who helped the man at the scene.”
