A much-loved rescue dog who was reportedly stolen sparking a county-wide hunt has been returned under the cover of darkness.

Daisy, a white and tan cocker spaniel, was last seen near her home in Hollingbourne near Maidstone on Monday, January 18 at around 8.50am.

Kent Police launched an investigation into the theft and a Facebook appeal was also launched.

Retired lecturer Pam Nash took in the rescue dog with husband William last year.

After she went missing, she said Daisy "has been our joy during lockdown".

A post on the Facebook page dedicated to finding Daisy said this morning: "Daisy is now home. Returned overnight. Thank you to everyone who helped us get her back."

A relative of Mrs Nash, speaking this morning, said: "We are thrilled that she's home and so grateful to everybody that helped get her back and home."

Kent Police has been approached for comment.
