Police and paramedics called to Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone

Police and paramedics were called to a town centre following reports a man was unconscious next to a busy road.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm today outside Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone.

One witness said: "Two police vans and two police cars have just pulled over directly outside Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone and are attending to a man on the floor.

"There’s about half a dozens officers there now and it’s right on the one way system.

"An ambulance had just arrived as I was leaving."

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance said: "Ambulance crews attended this incident which reported a person had collapsed at approximately 6.10pm.

"The person was treated before being taken to Maidstone hospital for further checks."

Kent Police have been contacted for more information.
