Failed armed robbery at takeaway in Kingswood near Maidstone leads to police appeal

An armed raider threatened staff in a village takeaway shop with a weapon before fleeing empty handed.

The man entered Kingswood Kebab Pizza in Cayser Drive, Kingswood, near Maidstone at around 9.30pm yesterday and demanded they open the cash till.

The employees refused and the man was forced to leave empty handed, heading in the direction of Holly Tree Close.

Police have said the suspect is a white slim male, aged between 20 and 30, and was wearing a red hooded top, matching bottoms, gloves and a red facemask.

Detective Inspector Darren Reynolds said: "While investigators are completing enquiries in the area, including the examination of CCTV footage, we would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident or saw the suspect in the area.

"I would also appeal to motorists who were in Kingswood between 9pm and 10pm and residents with private CCTV, to check for any dashcam footage that may assist our investigation."
