Hundreds of mourners are due to gather today to pay their last respects to father-of-five Jack Treeby, whose death has led to four members of the same family being charged with murder.

Mr Treeby’s funeral service is to be held at St Peter’s Church, Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst, this morning.

Police were expecting a large procession with a number of vehicles making up the cortege.

After the service, Mr Treeby, pictured, is to be buried at Chatham Cemetery in Maidstone Road.

The 43-year-old, from Rainham, died from multiple head and chest injuries after an incident with a car in Quarry Road, Maidstone, on December 27.

His brother Gary Treeby, 39, was also injured during the incident and treated in hospital for gunshot wounds.

Four family members are accused of the murder of Mr Treeby and the attempted murder of Gary Treeby.

Jack Treeby’s brother Bill Treeby, 49, his wife Charity, 50, and their sons Billy, 29, and George, 22, all of Queen Street, Paddock Wood have been remanded in custody until April 9, when they will enter pleas to the charges.

A provisional trial date has been set for September 27.
