Paul Young fined for spitting in the face of Dusk 2 Dawn bouncer in Maidstone

A former painter and decorator has been fined by magistrates after spitting in the face of a bouncer at a nightclub when he was refused entry.

Paul Young, 36, ended up at Dusk 2 Dawn for a booze-fuelled night with two friends after he was told another friend had died in a car crash.

Magistrates in Maidstone heard on Friday, October 26, that the trio had spent some time in the club on the evening of October 12 but left and tried to regain entry moments later.

The security officer told Young to go home and moments later he was spat at.
Deborah Jones, prosecuting, said: "At 2.45am three males were refused entry because they were drunk.

"The defendant called the security officer a p***k and pointed his finger at him. He was told to go home because he had too much to drink.

"He began to walk away and turned around and spat in the security officer’s face. He was detained and the police were called.

"At first he said it was an accident and said he didn’t mean to do it."

Young, of Eccles Row, Aylesford, said he had helped break up a couple of fights and became annoyed at the fact he wasn't allowed back into the King Street nightclub.

Keith Middleton, defending, said: "He tells me on the day in question he had learnt of the death of a friend in a road traffic collision and he was upset.

"He admits consuming alcohol to excess.

"In Dusk 2 Dawn he helped diffuse several bouts of trouble. During the evening he went out of the club and attempted to return.

"The security officer refused him entry and he admits he lost self control.

"He expressed disgust at his behaviour and realises the incident arose through drinking too much."

Unemployed Young was handed a £120 fine and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the security officer and £85 court costs.
