A Maidstone boy has gone through to the finals of Britain's Got Talent after his dance group won the latest round of the competition last night.

Ben Winchcombe, 10, and fellow members of DVJ (Diversity Juniors) dazzled the show's judges and are set to perform again in the final on Sunday.

The dance troop is the brainchild of previous winner Ashley Banjo and Diversity, which stormed the competition in 2009.

The Allington Primary School pupil started dancing when he was four years old and rehearses with the group at Dancework Studio in Essex.

The diversity star tweeted out this morning with his support for the youngsters.

Following the group's success, viewers have taken to Twitter to express mixed opinions about the victory.

One user said: "What's the point of DJ though honestly, being choreographed by diversity themselves, Ashley promoting them and they're basically copies of diversity even down to their clothes. Not right tbh."

Despite criticism, the young dancers have still gained the admiration and support of many BGT fans.

Coming to their defence, another Twitter user said: "People will compare DVJ to diversity but that's unfair to the kids who worked hard to put on a good show. They may have been taught by Ashley but they still had to go out there and shine and that they did."
