Maidstone Rugby Club's head coach Andy Foley says the side are thrilled to have home advantage as they bid to earn a place in a showpiece Twickenham final.

The club are just 80 minutes from an appearance at the home of rugby after a gritty 18-15 win at Newmarket in the London & South East regional final of the RFU Senior Vase on Saturday.

They will now host Somerset side Wells in the National semi-final at Mote Park on Saturday, April 7, with the winner going on to play Wath Upon Dearne or Stourbridge Lions at Twickenham on May 5.

Foley, pictured, said: "We’re delighted with the draw. It’s going to be a massive day for us. It gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase the club."

Wells sit second in the Tribute Somerset Premier League, with the chance to go top by winning their games in hand, and have won 13 straight games since their only defeat in October.

Foley said: "You can’t read too much into the levels of the clubs when you get to this stage. Wells are a good young team, with ex-Premiership coaching.

"They are having an excellent season but it will all come down to the day. It will come down to how the players deal with the occasion and the nerves, how the game is refereed."

Maidstone host Uckfield on Saturday in London 3 South East.
