Maidstone boss Peter Nott says his new-look squad is bigger and stronger than the one he inherited - and is less expensive.

Just three players who started Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Horsham featured in the final game overseen by Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume, with a host of players coming in to replace those who have left the club in the past six weeks.

Among the latest arrivals is combative midfielder Mark Corneille, who has spent four years with Bromley after his release from Gillingham.

His former team-mate at Hayes Lane, centre-forward Adrian Stone, 27, has also joined the Stones.

Their arrivals come hot on the heels of Andy Walker, Chris Saunders, Craig Stone, Alex Tiesse, Antonio Gonnella, Gillingham youngsters Dean Vance and Charlie Stimson, and former Stones youth player Roy Lyall, who is studying at Loughborough University.

Nott (pictured) said: "The players have fitted our budget - our reduced budget. When we took over we were asked to reduce the budget. That happened naturally when the Margate lads left.

"They were some of our more experienced and best-paid players.

"Now we have a larger squad for less money. We are getting stronger."
