Peter Nott says he expects to be summoned for talks with Maidstone's new owners to explain the club's poor start to the season.

The Stones boss, pictured, revealed the owners, Oliver Ash, Terry Casey and Bill Williams, visited the dressing room before last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Aveley.

He added, however: "They were just introducing themselves and wishing us luck. We haven’t had a proper chat yet but I’m sure I will be asked to sit down for talks at some point."

Nott was disappointed his side could not kick-start the new era with a win, adding: "There was a wave of optimism around the ground on Saturday – unfortunately, we missed the opportunity."

Danny Hockton scored his third goal in as many games, but an under-strength Stones lost 2-1 to Leatherhead in the Championship Manager League Cup on Tuesday, so Nott hopes his side can get just their second win in their 14th game of the season at home to Burgess Hill in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Antonio Gonnella (ankle) misses the match while Tommy Whitnell (groin), Tom Parkinson (knee) and Jermaine Darlington (knee) are rated 50-50. Simon Pettit, meanwhile, has rejoined Ramsgate.
