Maidstone: Emanuel Stafinski, formerly of Sandling Lane, fined after performing drunken sex act

A 40-year-old Maidstone man who performed a sex act on himself in front of two women in the town has admitting outraging public decency.

Emanuel Stafinski, formerly of Sandling Lane, was found by police just before 5am on a Sunday morning after reports he was following two women and grabbing his crotch.

Stafinski, who now lives in Northfleet, appeared unrepresented at Maidstone Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty.

With the assistance of an interpreter Stafinski, who works for recycling company Viridor, told the court: “I don’t know why I did it. I bought a bottle of wine and fell asleep on a bench. I got lost walking home, I remember I went to a petrol station to ask for directions, I could not find anyone to help.”

The court heard Stafinski, whose wife and son live in Poland, was drunk at the time of last October’s offence and did not know anyone else was around him.

Stafinski, who has no previous convictions, was fined £305.

Alan Austen, chairman of the bench, said: “This was absolutely disgusting and awful behaviour in a public place. Women in this country should expect not to have to put up with this behaviour. It was totally unacceptable and you need to be thoroughly ashamed.”
