Man charged after armed police called to Holborough Road, Snodland

A man has been charged after armed police locked down a residential street following reports of someone holding a gun.

It comes after officers cordoned off Holborough Road in Snodland earlier this week following a disturbance at a property.

Police were called to a residential address at about 2.35pm on Thursday, December 14, following a report a woman had been assaulted.

Patrols, including armed officers, attended the scene where it is alleged a man was acting in a threatening manner.

At the time witnesses said more than 30 emergency service workers were at the scene after a man was reportedly spotted holding “what looked like a gun” in the window of a flat.

Residents living nearby said they were told to stay in their homes and keep their lights off.

A suspect, who was known to the victim, was later arrested and taken into custody, officers also seized an air weapon.

Johnathon Mborah, of no fixed address, was later charged by investigators from West Kent CID with assault by beating, criminal damage to a door and internal furnishings, violence to secure entry to a premises, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause others to fear violence and using or threatening unlawful violence.

The 38-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, December 16 where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on January 15.
