Man seriously injured in town centre attack

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck with a glass bottle in Maidstone town centre.

The vicitm, who is in his early 30s, was hit when a fight broke out on Lower Stone Street, at about 2.45am on Sunday.

The brawl continued as the small group made their way to the junction of Knightrider Street and Upper Stone Street - where the man was attacked.

The injured man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The area was cordoned while forensic officers examined the scene.
