No SATs boycott in Maidstone

Primary schools in Maidstone are not boycotting the national SATs exams today, we can reveal.

Across the country 10 and 11-year-olds are knuckling down to exams in science, English and maths. However, some schools have decided to opt out of the exams, suggesting they are pointless and add unnecessary pressure.

Kent County Council has confirmed 24 schools in the county are refusing to take part in SATs but has not released the names of the schools.

The Kent Messenger contacted 13 primary schools in Maidstone and all said they would go ahead with the tests.
