Overturned lorry on M20

A German lorry has overturned on the M20, causing long delays for motorists.

The lorry left the London-bound carriageway at 8.05am this morning, between junction 9 for Ashford and junction 8 for Hollingbourne, Maidstone.

The lorry, carrying rolls of paper, ended up on its side down the embankment - trapping the driver in the cab.

Kent Fire and Rescue are working to free him. It is not known if he is injured.

Both sides of the M20, and the junction 9 slip road, have been closed for the Kent Air Ambulance to land.

Londonbound traffic is being diverted onto the A20 at Ashford.

South East Coast Ambulance Service staff are already on scene.

The cause of the incident is as yet unknown.
