Part of M20 to close for 5 nights at junctions 4 for Leybourne, 6 for Maidstone, 9 for Ashford and 11 for Hythe

Part of the M20 will be shut overnight for five nights next week while work is carried out.

Monday will see the start of coastbound closures between junctions 4 for Leybourne and 6 for Maidstone and the A229.

The coastbound carriageway will also be closed between junction 9 for Ashford and junction 11 for Hythe.

All closures will be in place from 8pm until 6am.

On Thursday there will be a full overnight closure of the M20 London bound for two nights between junctions 3 for Borough Green and 2 for Wrotham and Sevenoaks.

A free recovery service and speed enforcement will remain in place to ensure the safety of drivers and road workers.

Next weekend the coastbound entry slip road at junction 4, for Leybourne, will be closed from 6am on Saturday until 6am the following Monday.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place at the next available junction.

The improvement work is part of the smart motorway transformation which is due to be completed by March 2020.

There are currently narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 50mph in place at all times along the road.
