ALAN BOND: police say his sentence reflects the severity of his crime against an innocent young woman

A 35-year-old man has been sent to prison for what a judge described as "every woman’s worst nightmare".

Alan Bond attacked the 22-year-old woman in the early hours of November 26 last year in a car park in Maidstone.

The judge at Maidstone Crown Court sentenced Bond, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, to at least five years in jail and imposed an indeterminate public protection sentence. This means his period of imprisonment will continue until he is no longer a risk to the public.

Det Insp Kris Hill, of Mid-Kent Police, said: “We feel the sentence that has been passed reflects the severity of this awful attack on an innocent young woman.

"We must express our gratitude to the victim who, throughout this investigation which has involved a large number of officers and significant amount of time, has been extremely brave and constantly helpful, despite the trauma she has suffered.

“It also should be stressed how unusual these types of crimes are and people should be reassured that Kent, and more specifically Maidstone, is a safe place to live in and visit."
