Scout hut in Hadlow damaged by blaze

A scout hut blaze could have been started deliberately, according to firefighters.

Fire crews were called at 9.19pm yesterday, Monday, December 21, to a blaze in a single storey building belonging to 6th Tonbridge Scouts in Dray Court, Hadlow.

The fire damaged 50 per cent of the building, which was used as a storage hut, and destroyed "most of the contents".

Crews left the scene at about 11pm.

Watch manager Derek Patey said it was "difficult to tell" what equipment had been inside.

"We've left it in the hands of the police" he said, "potentially it could be deliberate. They've had attempts to break in previously."
