Thieves made off with seven miniature locomotives in an early morning raid.

Criminals stole the model trains from a showroom in Staplehurst, Maidstone.

They broke into the business in Lodge Road at about 2.30am on Tuesday, May 17.

Among the seven models were a Burrell AGR, a Burrell Showman's, a Fowler ploughing engine, a Super Sentinel, a Atkinson Standard, an Alice and a rare one-off prototype Case 1 inch tractor.

The Alice was damaged during the robbery. Both of its safety valves were snapped off and it is missing a tank filler cap, and front and rear footplates.

The trains are between a foot and just over half a metre long.

It is thought the thieves fled the scene in a Renault Clio.
