A 15-year-old has been arrested after a teenage girl was allegedly raped.

The incident is said to have taken place at 11.40am yesterday on a footpath near the River Len in Maidstone.

Residents living in flats alongside the river, near the Sainsbury’s store at Romney Place, were also questioned yesterday afternoon, as police searched the area.

A 15-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of rape and questioned by police. He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
