The Mote remain on course for Kent League Premier Division cricket next season, despite a less-than-impressive display at Sandwich.

The visitors’ first three batsmen were all out for ducks – hardly promotion-winning contributions – and it took 45 from No.8 Laurence Waters to give their total some respectability as they made 143 all out.

Sandwich weren’t any better with the bat, though, and they lost their last five wickets for just 17 runs to finish 14 adrift of their target.

Glen Aukett was The Mote’s leading bowler, returning figures of 3-42.

The Maidstone side have a 16-point lead over third-placed Hythe with four games left to play.
