Tonbridge boss Tommy Warrilow is hoping to agree terms with Chris Piper but knows he faces competition from other clubs for the midfielder’s signature.

Bermondsey-based Piper signed Ryman League forms last week, scoring on his debut in the Premier Division 7-1 home win over AFC Hornchurch. He figured again in Tuesday’s 1-0 victory at Margate, which Warrilow described as the club’s best display in his time at the club.

Piper was captain at Saturday's opponents Croydon Athletic, before the South London club’s off the field problems and joined two other former team-mates, Ben Judge and Rory Hill, at Longmead.

Warrilow, pictured, said: "I know at least two other clubs are interested in Chris and one of them has offered him a good deal. I want to sign him and hope we can keep him for the rest of the season."

Judge skippered the side in both games, as Scott Kinch only made the bench after struggling with a dead leg and Warrilow admits it will be difficult to make changes against Croydon.

Claude Seanla (2) and Jamie England also scored in their first games for the club, with Frannie Collin getting a hat-trick against Hornchurch, while Lee Browning got the 75th-minute winner at Margate

Warrilow added: "I have been trying to remember a better performance in my time at the club and can’t. It was everything about us, our movement, the way we knocked the ball around and I was just waiting for us to score, although Margate never give you anything."
