Tonbridge boss Tommy Warrilow signed a contract extension this week and hopes it will end the speculation surrounding his future.

He put pen to paper on a 12-month deal on Monday, the day before his side were humbled 4-0 at home by Cray Wanderers.

Warrilow’s response was to cancel a planned night-off training on Thursday and arrange a Saturday session, while some first teamers will play for the reserves against Northwood.

Warrilow said: "I have a great relationship with the board. I’m not going to walk away, I’m going to stay and sort it out. To say the start of the season has been disappointing is an understatement. It doesn’t need major surgery but there are a few areas I have to address.

"The expectations have always been high. It’s gone from ‘keep us in the league to get us out of it’."

Warrilow was unhappy with his team’s defending against Cray – all four goals coming in the space of 28 minutes – but said: "We should have been three up at the break."

Alan Pouton could feature for the reserves after returning from injury.

Warrilow said: "I spoke to Alan through the summer. He hasn’t signed yet and we have got to sit down again and have a chat."
