A YOUNG woman fell to the ground after she was punched in the back of the head by a stranger in the street.

The incident happened as the 18-year-old victim got off a No 6 bus at the bottom of the High Street, Maidstone, at about 8.15am on Friday.

Gianna Pollero, police media and communications Officer for the Mid-Kent area, said: "She had just placed some personal property into her bag when the offender came up behind her.

"He is described as a white man, of heavy build, wearing a grey hooded top and dark trousers."
