Maidstone man attacked girlfriend while on bail for previous assault

A woman was left terrified after suffering two sickening attacks from her partner.

Gary Nash punched his former girlfriend at her home in Maidstone more than 20 times in an attack which came just weeks after police told him not to contact her.

Deborah Jones, prosecuting, told the court how Nash called 999 on June 5.

She said: "The defendant said he needed to be arrested as he'd hit his girlfriend.

"When police arrived Nash confirmed it was him who called police and he'd assaulted her after 'a bit of an argument'."

The court heard Nash, 38, had pinned his former partner down in her Maidstone home and punched her four times in the face.

He was arrested and bailed on the condition he did not approach his victim.

Mrs Jones said: "On July 20, Nash attended her address and she allowed him in.

"He accused her of cheating and lunged toward her, punching her. He continued to punch her face and head around 20 times.

"When she moved to her bed, he pulled her head back and continued to punch her in the face."

The victim suffered a black eye as well as bruising to her face.

She later told police: "The attack left me terrified, I was already scared of Gary before the attacks but I was still in love with him."

Nash pleaded guilty to two charges of assault.

Prosecution is seeking a restraining order barring Nash from the house where his assaults took place.

Stephen Boughton, chairman of the bench, adjourned sentencing until August 15.

Nash, of Hill Crescent, Lenham, has been remanded in custody.
