As managerial tributes go, we've not seen anything that beats Maidstone fans' portrait of Jay Saunders.

We reckon the giant banner, on show in the North Stand at the Gallagher Stadium, is unique.

In recent memory, there was the Rafael Benitez picture frame that went everywhere with Liverpool supporters - but the Saunders masterpiece trumps that.

So what does the man himself think?

He said: "It's nice. It makes me better-looking than I am where it's a painting and not a picture!

"It's appreciated. I was a bit surprised when I first came out and saw it.

"I suppose with the size of my head they had to get a very big flag.

"They couldn't have had a little one, it wouldn't have fitted on it!"
