Jamar Loza and Zavon Hines ready to team up for Maidstone United

Jamar Loza can’t wait to play in the same Maidstone team as Zavon Hines.

The pair are similar players - off-the-cuff entertainers - but there’s room for both in Loza’s eyes.

He said: “I think it will be great for both of us because I’ve been watching and in a lot of games teams have been doubling up on Zav and making it hard because obviously he’s been doing well.

“But I think if you have two players like that in the side, they can’t double up and over-compensate as much, which will give him more room to go one v one and me more room to go one v one which, as wingers, is what we want.

“They can’t double up on both of us.”

Loza could make his comeback when Maidstone meet Enfield in the FA Cup final qualifying round at the Gallagher tomorrow.

He’s made a rapid recovery from ankle surgery at the end of August which was expected to keep him out for at least four months.

Loza said: “I was gutted to find out I was going to be out for that long but I didn’t want to be out for four months, I wanted to make sure I could give myself a good chance to come back as quick as I could.

“I’m naturally a quick healer but I have been putting in a lot of work outside the club to give myself the best recovery.

“I’ve got a new personal trainer who’s been excellent for me in giving me massages on my ankle every single day which helps massively because it gets the swelling down and once that’s down you can push on to other stuff.

“Before the surgery I couldn’t run at all. Now I’m sprinting, I’m doing everything that I used to be able to do. I’m buzzing.

“The surgeon was quite amazed. He thought I’d still be limping around but he said some people heal faster than others and that was the case with me.”

Loza’s not the only player coming back from injury, with Delano Sam-Yorke (hamstring) and Josh Hare (groin) set to be fit for Enfield.

Their return comes at a good time with Maidstone bidding to balance FA Cup commitments with a National League play-off challenge.

Loza said: “On the whole we’ve been doing really well this season - we’ve had an excellent start.

“We’ve set our standards high and now there’s not just me, there’s a few players coming back from injury which is going to improve the squad even more.”
