Maidstone Utd 3 Carshalton 0

MAIDSTONE United went some way to erasing the painful memories of Saturday's 7-0 defeat at Chelmsford, when they beat Carshalton 3-0 in the Ryman Premier Division on Tuesday night.

After 298 minutes without a goal, Lynden Rowland broke United's duck for the season, when he turned in Nick Hegley's cross in the 28th minute.

Nine minutes later Errison Ahwan pounced when Carshalton keeper Aaron Howe and defender John Cartledge combined to bungle a routine clearance, firing in the loose ball from 20 yards out.

Just before the interval Pat Mullin, who had one of his best games for the Stones, tipped a Phil Ruggles shot against the bar and five minutes after the restart Mo Takaloo killed the visitors off.

Sub Aaron Lacy's long throw caught Howe by surprise and Takaloo juggled the ball with his back to the goal, before flicking it into the net over his shoulder.
