Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders says there will be no new signings before transfer deadline

Jay Saunders has drawn a blank in his bid to sign a new centre-half for Maidstone.

United boss Saunders was hoping to bring in cover for Manny Parry and Callum Davies before Thursday's transfer deadline.

On the plus side, Jamie Coyle could return from a knee injury at St Albans on Saturday week (April 2).

Saunders, who was exploring dual-registration deals, said: "Everyone's looking for players before the deadline but we've had no luck, so we'll go with what we've got.

"I've been trying for weeks, ever since Coyley got injured.

"It's difficult. There wasn't the money to go and sign someone and I didn't want to bring someone in and then they'd be out of the squad once Coyley was back.

"I was looking at doing something dual-reg but it wasn't possible.

"I wasn't desperate. Bobby-Joe Taylor can cover at left-back if we need to put Tom Mills at centre-half, plus Coyley is coming along well.

"He won't play this weekend but there's a chance he'll be back next weekend."
