Stones welcome back Smalling

RETURN: Chris Smalling
RETURN: Chris Smalling

Maidstone United v Billericay

HAVING missed a number of games due to England schoolboy trial matches, Chris Smalling returns to Maidstone's first-team squad for the Ryman League Premier Division match against Billericay on Saturday.

Lee Shearer also returns, meaning Errison Ahwan could push into central midfield to replace Rob Owen, who will miss three weeks (hamstring).

Maidstone joint-manager Lloyd Hume regards Billericay's league position as artificially low and has painful memories of 2-0 and 4-0 defeats away to the Essex club in the FA Cup and league this season.

He said: "It'll be a tough game. They are underachievers who have spent a lot of money and since their manager left they've had an influx of players.

"But next week we go to Leyton and if we play to our potential we could get six points from our next two games.

"I wouldn't say that would make us safe from relegation but it would go a long way to keeping us in the division."
