Firefighters tackle fire at commercial greenhouse in Court Lane, Hadlow

Firefighters are still at the scene of a large blaze at a commercial greenhouse which started in Hadlow yesterday morning.

Around 30 firefighters in six engines were called to Bertie's Wood Fuel in Court Lane at its height.

The fire started in a single storey greenhouse being let out by Hadlow College, measuring around 60m by 30m, at around 6.45am.

Crews in breathing apparatus are using four hose reels, two jets, a hydrant, light portable pumps and a water shuttle to put it out.

By mid-afternoon firefighters were still tackling the fire, which is not thought to have caused structural damage.

Police were called to help manage traffic on the A26 and Court Lane was closed.
