Floral tributes to Tommy left at scene of fatal crash in East Malling

Floral tributes have been left after a young man was killed in a horror crash that seriously injured a passenger.

Balloons spelling out “Tommy,” bouquets and many candles were left at the scene of the collision, in Wateringbury Road, East Malling.

The accident happened at 7.45am on Friday and involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a grey Land Rover.

A passenger in the Vauxhall, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Land Rover was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

One floral tribute contained a card reading: “To our cousin Tommy, You are so loved. You are so going to be missed by everyone.”

Tins of beer and energy drinks were also left at the roadside.

The driver of the Astra had left the scene when police arrived.

Subsequently, a 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information and anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has relevant dashcam footage, is urged to call Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference SM/SC/117/23.
