Motorists faced three miles of traffic after an accident on the motorway.

The incident, thought to have involved a car and a lorry, happened on the M20 coastbound.

This was between Junction 5 Coldharbour Lane for Aylesford and Junction 6 for Maidstone and Detling Hill police say.

Meanwhile, the Coldharbour roundabout at Junction 5 was partially blocked due to an accident.

Traffic conditions have returned to normal.

Kent Police were called at the scene at 5.54am and say that the road was cleared by 7am.

A spokesman said: "Officers attended and no injuries were believed to be reported."
