Teenager arrested after instructor's car allegedly stolen by pupil on lesson

A learner driver has been arrested on suspicion of theft - after an unqualified instructor's car was allegedly stolen during a lesson.

The 17-year-old from Rochester is believed to have sped away while being guided through a three-point turn... leaving his victim behind on wasteland on the Hoo Peninsula.

The Rover MG car was later spotted by police at 4pm on Monday, where the boy was arrested.

A police spokesman said the instructor had got out of the car to demonstrate the manoeuvre.

The "instructor" involved was not a qualified one. It is believed he was known to the alleged thief and helping him learn to drive.

The teenager is also accused of stealing a mobile telephone and wallet from the vehicle.

He has been released on bail until Tuesday February 24 for further enquiries.
