A man has been arrested after an assault left another man with serious head injuries.

The man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent less than four hours after the attack at around 5pm on Wednesday in Hawthorn Road, Strood.

The victim was taken to hospital with head injuries after being found by officers seriously hurt.

The man remains in custody while enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
