Rochester man bailed after Strood assault leaves man fighting for his life

A man arrested after a town centre assault prompted a large police cordon has been released on bail.

Part of Cuxton Road in Strood was taped off from the public at around 11.10pm last Sunday, November 20, and a man was left fighting for his life in hospital.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable but critical condition.

A 45-year-old man from Rochester was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but has since been released on bail until February 13.

The large police cordon was pictured last Monday and started at the petrol station near Papa Johns and included Cuxton Road Car Sales and the Halfords site.

It was removed the following day.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam, mobile or CCTV footage is urged to get in touch.
