Ilir Deskaj in court accused of attempted murder of Avni Krasniqi in Hever Place, Canterbury

A 38-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

Ilir Deskaj, of Frencham Close in Canterbury, is accused of trying to kill Avni Krasniqi on Tuesday.

Mr Krasniqi, who is in his 40s, was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in a car in Hever Place at 11pm.

Mr Deskaj, who is also charged with possession of a kitchen knife, appeared via video link at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning.

He was not asked to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, May 30.

His son Benjamin Deskaj, also of Frencham Close, was charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to this incident.

The 20-year-old has been released on bail to attend Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on May 22.

Mr Krasniqi remains in hospital, though his condition is not known.
