A large car was consumed by a huge ball of flames this morning.

The estate was blazing just off the Lord Lees roundabout for Buckmore park, towards the Taddington roundabout.

Fire crews from Medway were called at 8.43am and spent 25 minutes quashing the flames but remain at the scene dousing down the charred wreckage.

Police were also called in for traffic management and motorists are stuck in queues along Blue Bell Hill heading from Maidstone to Chatham.

The vehicle was completely destroyed, but no injuries have been reported.
