Arsonists are thought to be responsible for torching a car in a dirt track under the M2 bridge in Borstal on Tuesday night .

Firefighters from Strood were called out to deal with the burning vehicle, a Proton, just before midnight.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the crew were on the scene for about an hour putting out the flames.

In an earlier incident two cars collided in Dock Road, Chatham, on Tuesday morning causing tailbacks in the town.

The emergency services were called to the road at its junction with Globe Lane, at about 11.30am.
