Chatham ended an eight-match run without a victory by defeating Walton & Hersham 3-0 in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday.

Ray Powell (pictured) scored twice and made the other for Rob Denness.

Goalkeeper Dean Ruddy ensured the clean sheet with a fine save from Walton substitute Michael Charles and also had an assist in Chatham’s first goal after 16 minutes. He launched a long kick downfield, and Powell did the rest.

Chatham made it 2-0 on the hour when Denness found the net with a fine long-range effort. Powell made the points safe nine minutes from time after being set up by substitute Bobby Dixey.

Manager Alex O'Brien said: "We were very good on the day, defended well and took our chances. Walton started well, but we weathered that spell, and worked extremely hard. It was also nice to keep a clean sheet."
