Crews from two stations tackle blaze in bedroom of home in Dale Street, Chatham

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the bedroom of home in Chatham.

Crews from Rochester and Chatham stations were called to the flat in Dale Street at about 8.40am and found a blaze had broken out in the upstairs of the property.

All people living in the house were accounted for.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said there was a lot of smoke which had filled the flat.

It is not known at this stage how the fire started.
