A drug dealer has been locked up after peddling crack and heroin on the streets of Chatham.

Mazlum Sigirtmac invited police into a home in Upbury Way in September despite having one pocket stuffed with Class As and another full of cash.

In total 100 wraps of heroin and crack, a small bag of cannabis and £810 was found.

Officers had first become suspicious of a man walking away from a group of addicts and towards the house, which was linked to drugs supply.

He was stopped and searched but nothing was found. Undeterred officers then knocked on the door of the property only to be let in by 27-year-old Sigirtmac, of Clapton, East London.

While in custody Sigirtmac admitted the drugs were his but claimed they were for his personal use.

Evidence from two seized mobile phones suggested otherwise and he was charged with dealing.

He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court last Friday to possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, possessing cannabis and acquiring criminal property.

He was sentenced to three years and four months.

Detective Constable Rebecca Ward said: "Sigirtmac was caught in the act by officers on a proactive policing patrol and had little choice but to plead guilty, despite claiming that such a substantial quantity was for his own personal use.

"The sentence he has received reflects the serious nature of his offence and is another example of Kent Police proactively seeking out those who bring drugs into our community and getting them off our streets."
