Drinker stabbed in neck in Cliffe

A drinker was stabbed in the neck while he walked home from a pub in Cliffe.

The 38-year-old was walking along Church Street in the early hours when he was approached from behind and attacked.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, but his injuries are not life threatening.

Police launched an investigation, but are not sure what sort of weapon was used.

The attack took place at about 1.30am last Sunday, but police have only just released details.

Two men from Cliffe, aged 23 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and released on police bail pending further inquiries until Monday, September 19.
