Fatal stabbing: potentially vital witnesses sought

POLICE investigating the murder of Marco Schiroli in Rochester on New Year’s Eve are appealing for two witnesses to come forward.

The first is a man with a bicycle, possibly a mountain bike, seen in Maidstone Road near the Vineyard pub soon after the murder.

The second person police would like to speak to is someone seen walking down Maidstone Road towards Rochester city centre near the Vineyard pub. A police spokesman said officers did not know whether the person was a man or a woman.

Mr Schiroli, 29, died from multiple stab wounds after being attacked outside the Vineyard pub at about 7.15pm.

Det Ch Insp Dean Barnes said: “I believe these two people may have important information. I would urge them to come forward and contact the incident room.”
