Four car crash on the M2 near J3 for Chatham and Rochester and J4 for Gillingham closes lane

One lane has been closed on the M2 due to two crashes, each involving two cars, causing long tailbacks.

One accident happened on the M2 coast-bound between from junction 3 A229 for Chatham and Rochester and junction 4 A278 for Gillingham at around 12.22pm.

Shortly after another incident was reported involving a car and a lorry in on the slip road for junction 4.

Lane two is currently closed and traffic is building up and very slow moving, with delays expected to last into the afternoon.

At the moment, there have been no injuries reported.

Police spokesman Scarlet Drayson said: "Kent Police called to a report of a collision involving two cars at 12.22pm on Saturday 17 November 2018.

"Officers attended the scene on the coastbound M2 between Junctions 3 and 4. No injuries were reported.

"Officers also dealt with a second collision involving a car and lorry was reported nearby shortly after, on the slip-off road of Junction 4."
