Gillingham gear up for arrival of Blackburn

by Luke Cawdell

Gillingham are gearing up for the arrival of Premiership side Blackburn as the pair meet in the second round of the Carling Cup at Priestfield tonight.
Tickets remain on sale for the tie and are likely to do so until kick-off with just under 7,000 already sold.
Blackburn know the Carling Cup could be their best chance of qualifying for European competition next year, especially as their league campaign has got off to a sticky start.
Manager Sam Allardyce will, however, be resting some key men as he has a mini injury crisis that he doesn’t want to inflame with a trip to Gillingham.
Mark Stimson’s Gillingham side are in the second round of the cup for the first time in four years, following a triumphant home win over Plymouth in round one, but have since lost their last three league games and will be hoping a cup upset gives them a lift they need.
If the match is tied at full-time an extra 30 minutes will be played and if still no winner had emerged then penalties will decide who progresses to round three.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm tonight and the ticket office is open now. Contact them on 01634 300000 or visit the Gills’ website. Adult tickets cost from £20, senior citizens are charged £16, 16-21 year-olds £13, under-16s £9 and for under-12s it’s £6.
