Gillingham residents can quiz police online

Gillingham residents can quiz their local police officers online in Medway's first web beat meeting.

People living in Gillingham South ward, which runs from Watling Street to the train station, are invited to take part.

The hour-long virtual meeting is a chance for people to raise concerns with their neighbourhood officers.

The idea was first trialled in Kent in November 2010 by officers in Tunbridge Wells.

The event, next Wednesday from 7.30pm, has been arranged by PCSO Joe Ford.

He said: "This is an exciting new way in which we can meet members of the community in Gillingham South, and residents can do it from the comfort of their own home.

"We will always be out and about in the local community, but for some people physically attending meetings isn't always possible, so this is a great alternative."

Officers joining the meeting will be Sgt Jon Fouracre, PC James Gibson, PCSO Kathryn Francis and PCSO Nic Davison.

Residents can join them by accessing the discussion at www.kent.police.uk/onlinemeeting and following the instructions.
